I can't believe it took me this long to pick up these books. The name Sherrilyn Kenyon is practically synonymous with Paranormal Romance. I saw this two for one bundle, and figured I'd try out the pair to see what all the fuss was about.

The experience left me largely torn. There were some wonderful aspects of these books, and one really bad facet that made me want to throw things.

What I liked:
The characters. I dug them, a lot. In fact, I think if anything keeps me coming back to this series, it will be to figure out what happens to Acheron. I was hugely intrigued by his character, more so than the hero/heroine in each book. Nick was another secondary character I loved. Kenyon can definitely spin a character that makes me interested, which is a big, huge plus.

The idea. I really liked the premise of soulless heroes brought back from death to defend humans from demons. Learning about the heroes' histories was another plus. I enjoyed that historical aspect to each of her books. I also love the nods to various types of mythology.

What I disliked:
Head hopping. These books are the mother of all head hoppers. The constant, abrupt shifts, sometimes several times within a scene made me endlessly annoyed. My real frustration is that if it weren't for this one thing, these would be the best paranormal romance I've read this year. I can only hope that someone eventually told her how aggravating this was to some people and later on down the series it gets better.

Lack of antagonist motivation. It seemed like, in these two books at least, the bad guys were just being bad to create chaos. I guess that's okay, but I like my evil a little more sinister I guess, rather than just bad for the sake of it.

Originally I'd decided on four stars, but writing about the head hopping made me so angry I changed my mind to three. Rest assured, it's somewhere between three and four and the actual number depends on my mood the instant I post this. I will keep reading (at least for a few books) because I like her characters and the world she's building.

This is a must read for paranormal romance fans, and very high on the vampire smut scale, all things considered. If head hopping bothers you, maybe stay away.

The DH series is one of my favorite series. I've read all of the DH books and have too many favorites to name. That being said, I read them a really long time ago so I wasn't sure if i was going to feel the same as i re-read the books. Thankfully, I feel the same way I felt over 4 years when I first read Kyrian and Talons stories. I haven't been able to put them down since i started 3 days ago.

Except for maybe 2-3 other series, I don't think there is anything that comes close. I love the characters and I love the world Sherrilyn has created!!! I would and have recommended this to everyone i know!
As I was waiting for the next "Dark Brotherhood" book to be published...I came across recommendations for this series.

I am so glad I found another set of books to read...as I am an avid reader of sci. fi and fantasy. The first book, "Fantasy Lover," drew me in; and the interplay of characters through the following books are wonderful. The mythology used in these stories is highly interesting...and the character development is well thought out.

Although not as "gritty" or coarse at the brotherhood series...the evocative nature of the story line is enticing...well worth the "read time."
If you enjoy reading books by Sherrilyn Kenyon & you are just starting the 'Dark Hunter' books then you must read books two & three.

It makes it so much easier when you can read books in a large combo like this. Especially these great books.

Even if you are not going to not planning on reading the series, this is a great book to read.

This is how I started reading books by her. I got to curl up in bed reading this book & I did not sleep that night. I couldn't stop reading. It has the sexiest men & the hottest sex scenes.

So when you are curled up, wither in bed or any where else, & need to read something I strongly suggest this book. It's an A++
I have to confess that I am addicted to all Sherrilyn Kenyon related stories... This was a repurchase as I have the physical book, but due to space constraints, I am migrating to digital versions of all my beloved books. I could not bear the thought to loose part of my collection!!!

If you are like me and love fantasy and romance, this is a BIG recommend! It is the first two books of the Dark-Hunter Novels and they are quite steamy in the love scene department, but provide a great plot and lots of action as well!! What the love of a good woman can do for a man who has lost his soul to betrayal from those they held dear in their hearts? It can be a balm to their wounded hearts and grant freedom to his soul!!!!
I've read the first 3 books of this series (beginning with 'Fantasy Lover') and so far I love the storylines and the characters. There are enough extra characters in each story to make you wonder which one/s will be in the next book. Each book has similarities, as do those in most series, but they are different enough to keep you guessing what will happen to who and when.

This book contains the actual Book #1 and Book #2. 'Fantasy Lover', I believe, was written later, but I liked reading it first as the main characters are involved in Book #1 - 'Night Pleasures'.

This is my kind of series! I love characters having a part in future books and stories. I also like the greek gods' interactions in life as it is today. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves romance and fantasy with a little adventure and mystery.
