Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies An Adams Grove Novel Nancy Naigle Books

I read the previous Nancy Naigle books and really enjoyed them. Since I read the first book to Kasey's story I looked forward to reading the rest. I was sadly disapointed and didn't even finish the book. At the end of the first book, Kasey tells Scott she isn't ready for a relationship but when she is, she can't imagine it being with anyone but him. Somehow she forgot the comment in this book and walks around acting like he is a stalker who can't take a hint! Plus Scott is the perfect sweet gentleman in all previous books, but somehow turns into a mean vindictive man in this one! Awful! I didn't care for Kasey and Cody's so called love affair. What was with having to hear all their thoughts? Nancy blew it with this one!

Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies An Adams Grove Novel Nancy Naigle Books Reviews

It was great to finally read more of Kasey and Cody, and to go back to Adams Grove. There is always the perfect blend of small town life, and mystery and suspense. I was curious to see how everything was going to play out between Kasey, Cody, and Scott. Cody is really interesting. He is a small town guy living in a big world, and there is so much more to him then what you would expect from a music superstar. I think it is impossible to not love his character. Kasey is great as well. She is tough, but she has her weak spots, and seeing her handle those makes the story even better. Jake adds a cool element to the story. While you clearly get to see how Nick's death and the kidnapping affected Kasey, you also get to see how they affected Jake, which is interesting. Jake seems fine, and his main concern is just taking care of his mom. She is what he worries about, but he still has that innocent trust for people that Kasey lost during the ordeal. He is just a really sweet kid! The story was exciting, of course, and I loved seeing everything come together. Hopefully, we see these characters again. I'd like to see what happens to Pete! This was definitely another great Nancy Naigle book!
Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies by Nancy Naigle is 2013 Montlake publication. I recieved this book as a part of the first program.
Cody Tuggle a country music star, is tired of being on the road and is feeling burned out and ready for some down time. He's thought of looking up an old girlfriend to see if maybe he made a mistake by chosing his career over family life. His manager, Arty, is vehemently opposed to that idea. Cody also remembers a pretty girl he met on a photo shoot named Kasey. He wishes he could find a girl like her. She's not interested in his fame or money and is easy to talk to. She has her own career and is raising a son alone after her husband passes away. When Cody has the chance to meet with Kasey again, he knows for sure he wants to gets to know her better.
For Kasey like without Nick has been hard. Raising her son alone she just can't seem to move on. The love she had with Nick was a one of a kind, once in a lifetime kind of love and Kasey is sure she will never feel that type of connection again. She does have an admirer though, but try as she might she can't feel anything for the law enforcement officer that has tried so hard to become a part of her life. But, we she finds herself touching base with Cody Tuggle again, something long buried starts making it's way to the surface and now Kasey is frightened by the feeling she has for Cody.
A series of events unfolds that hits Cody pretty hard. He finds out some things that have him really upset and Kasey is the just the person he needs to help him deal with some heavy betrayals. But, when a death occurs, Cody becomes suspect number one. Did Kasey misread Cody? Could he be a cold blooded murderer?
I loved the characters in this story, but Kasey's son Jake nearly stole the show. Kasey deserves a chance at HEA after going through the loss of her husband. Cody also deserves to have someone love him for who he really is. Although Kasey is not sure about how they will manage small town life with Cody's superstar status, Cody knows without a doubt this small town and Kasey is just what he wants, if he doesn't get send to prison for murder that is.
Nancy Naigle has a real talent for tucking us in to a cozy spot and losing ourselves in a heartwarming romance and with a mystery and little suspense thrown in for good measure. If you haven't read the Adam's Grove series yet, get yourself over to or B&N and get a copy. These romance and mystery novels will appeal to any audience, even YA readers can enjoy these since there is no strong language, sexual content or graphic violence. If you enjoy contemporary romance, romantic suspense, or cozy myteries you will enjoy this series.
This is the second novel I've read by Nancy Naigle. Her stories are easy to read, and always gives me a warm feeling ... except when there are deadly lies. In Adams Grove, Virginia, a small town with lots of traditions, Kasey Phillips and her 5-year old son, Jake, are watching the annual parade of antique tractors which mark the last of summer vacation for school kids. This will be Jake's first school year, kindergarten. After Kasey lost her her husband, Nick, in a deadly accident, and endured a kidnapping event of Jake, which was quickly resolved, Kasey is very protective of Jake and doesn't know how she'll handle her emotions while he is away at school. Jake has no baggage concerning his kidnapping, but does have fond memories of his dad who died when he was only two years old. Sheriff Scott Calvin cruises by at the parade giving Kasey a playful wink. He has a strong feeling for her, but Kasey only appreciates his helpful friendship. She is not ready to believe that love will find her again after the tragic loss of Nick. Cody Tuggles, a country performer is doing a concert in Maryland. He's been performing for 17 years and is not married. Though he has a herd of female fans, he's not come across that one special eternal love. Kasey had some photographic work in the past for Cody's band traveling occasionally on some tours. She has a special appreciation of his bringing home her son Jake when he was taken from the kidnapper. The next gig not far from Kasey's home has been cancelled because of severe weather, so upon invitation, Cody's two tour buses arrive to spend a few days in Adams Grove. This is a warm, fuzzy story until Cody's agent of many years is murdered, and Cody becomes a person of interest in the crime. The story is well written, easy to read, and characters are well defined and very likable. It's a touching story that I enjoyed, I think you will, too.
