In Janice Maynard’s sweet and sexy new series, three childhood friends with a shared passion for the Outlander novels and TV show decide to travel to Scotland looking for adventure—and their very own Highland heroes…

It’s a dream come true for schoolteacher Hayley Smith.  No homework to grade, no students to corral, no social media, Internet or cell phone…just a month amid the heather and rolling hills around Inverness. A brawny alpha male in a kilt is probably too much to ask for. But Hayley is in heaven ambling around Loch Ness, gazing and then…falling into the icy water, before being rescued by a strong, chivalrous local hero…

Retired soccer star Angus Munro, aka Angus the Angler, is a little insulted and a whole lot intrigued when Hayley doesn’t recognize him. How long has it been since anyone saw beyond his wealth and fame? And how long before the macho athlete and his modern-day American damsel in distress act on an attraction that could make even the misty Scottish moors sizzle with heat? Long enough, maybe, for both to figure out if this is an affair to remember…or the start of something everlasting…

Hot For The Scot Kilted Heroes Book 1 edition by Janice Maynard Literature Fiction eBooks

Janice Maynard wrote a wonderful romance book with interesting characters and a fun storyline. This book was based off the main character's love of the "Outlander" books and tv series. I loved the "Outlander" series about Claire who travelled back in time to the 1700's and falls in love with a Highland warrior. The main character, Hayley, of "Hot for the Scot" was so inspired by the book that she traveled to Scotland to try to understand Claire's love of the land and culture. Hayley was also hoping to meet a Scot and fall in love. Well, she "accidentally" meets Angus Munro, a retired pro Scottish football (soccer) player and the sparks fly and the fun begins.
I highly recommend this book to any romance lover, even if you haven't read "Outlander". There are some mentions of the book but you will still understand what is going on. But I will give the "Outlander" book series a plug - it is an absolute must read for everyone. It is a historical romance that you don't just read, you feel and experience it. Obviously, Janice Maynard thought enough of the "Outlander" book to use it as a background basis for this book!
Anyway, back to "Hot for the Scot" - get this book; it is totally a fun, hot and enjoyable book and you won't be sorry!!!

Hot For The Scot Kilted Heroes Book 1 edition by Janice Maynard Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is a marvelously well written book. I felt like I was there with Hayley and Angus. I have always wanted to go there and this book made the urge unbearable. And I loved the intimate scenes well written they gave me goosebumps. Thank you Janice Maynard this is a lovely book. Can't wait to read the next one.
This book was a great start to the adventure that three girlfriends began trying to find there Outlander obsessions somewhere in Scotland. A modern day twist with wonderful characters make this a pleasure to read.
It helps to be an 'Outlander' fan if you read this book, but it is not essential. This is a thoroughly enjoyable, well-written romantic romp that isn't afraid to take itself less than seriously. As a Brit reading a book by an American, I am always too critical, ready to jump on the anachronisms and errors when describing the British - in this case Scottish - way of life, but Ms Maynard has it down to a fine art - full marks, no bloopers at all.So the reader is left free to enjoy the story and not be sidetracked by things that don't read right.
Great fun, hard to put down once you start, and short enough to make that possible.
Full marks Janice Maymard, I have already bought the second book in this series and have pre-ordered the third.
I was skeptical to read this book because one review stated there were tons of typos. I only found a few, so I think that review should not sway anyone from reading this book. Great and accurate scenic descriptions of the Scottish surroundings. Like all great love stories, there is a fast and intense connection, obstacles to overcome, and jealousy. As you near the end, it's hard to put down because you are on pins-and-needles to see how it all plays out. Really hard to find modern-day Scottish romance novels. I really enjoyed this one! Highly recommend!
This book really didn't do anything for me. While the storm, flood, and cleanup were interesting, the actual 'courtship' of the hero and heroine was totally flat. I never got the feeling that there was anything between them but sexual attraction. I think part of the problem was that the story was written in first person. Writing this way seldom gives insight into the feelings of the other characters. And, too, I just couldn't understand why a rich, gorgeous, and famous man who had traveled the world and met plenty of beautiful women would be so totally bowled over at first sight by an ordinary American schoolteacher. If the attraction had developed at a slower pace, then it would be more understandable. The story wasn't bad. It has just been done better by others. I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Sexual situations may offend some readers.
Book 1 of the Kilted Heroes series These titles might be enjoyed more if you're familiar with the Outlander series which forms the motivation for the heroines' trip to Scotland; however, the author gives just enough detail about Outlander to help the reader understand. If you want stories based almost purely on romance, these are for you. In each title, the heroine (can you be a heroine when no truly heroic events are involved?) goes to Scotland seeking adventure and romance and in predictable fashion, finds it. Sometimes the Scottish travelogue almost takes over the story. At other times, the waffling between "forever love" and "temporary adventure" becomes almost tedious.

Books 1 and 2 could be read as stand-alones in any order, but book 3 should only be read after you've read the other 2. The books are better edited than some, but could still benefit from a careful review. These are light-weight, feel-good stories for those who aren't searching for deep meaning and literary excellence.
This is a new author for me and I'm so glad I found her. I love this book. She expressed exactly how I felt when I visited Scotland a couple of years ago and felt such a strong connection there and wondered if the fantasies and time travel I've read so much about really existed and would love to experience the magical feeling and find your true love. But reality doesn't work out that way for us regular people, or does it? This was a wonderful story of these three childhood friends that drifted apart and found each other again in adulthood and took a trip to Scotland, then went different paths after arriving there to see if they could experience what the couple in Outlander did. I loved theses girls with their very different personalities, this book is about Haley and Angus and I can't wait for Willow and Mackenzie's story and see how their adventure turns out.
